What is Lyra (Aerial Hoop)?

The lyra (also known as the aerial hoop or cerceau) is a circular steel hoop suspended from the ceiling, used as an apparatus for spins, poses, and flowing sequences. Part strength, part dance, part sculpture, lyra lets you sit, hang, balance, and move through shapes both inside and outside the hoop. Because the hoop gives you a solid bar to hold, many students find it a friendly, confidence-building place to start their aerial journey, while its endless combinations keep advanced aerialists hooked for years. It’s graceful, athletic, and genuinely addictive.

Beginner Lyra Classes – No Experience Needed

You don’t need strength, flexibility, or a dance background to start the lyra, you build it all in class. Our beginner aerial hoop classes in Orlando begin with the fundamentals: safe mounts, balance points, foundational spins, and simple poses inside and outside the hoop. Because our classes stay small, your coach sees every student and meets you exactly where you are. Most beginners are surprised how quickly they’re linking their first shapes into a sequence that actually feels like flying.

Lyra for Adults

The lyra is one of the most rewarding things you can take up as an adult. It’s a full-body workout wrapped in artistry, building core and grip strength, flexibility, and body awareness while you actually enjoy yourself. Whether you’re an athlete after a new challenge or someone who hasn’t worked out in years, our adult aerial hoop classes welcome you exactly as you are. No experience, no gym background, no problem.

Lyra for Kids

For kids, the aerial hoop builds strength, coordination, focus, and a quiet confidence that carries into everything else they do. In a safe, encouraging environment, young students learn to spin and pose on the hoop while developing real physical literacy, and having a blast doing it. Our coaches specialize in making first tries feel like wins, so kids leave proud and already asking when they can come back.

What to Expect in Your First Class

Nervous about your first class? Everyone starts here. Wear fitted athletic clothing that covers the backs of your knees (leggings work well), leave the jewelry at home, and consider a light layer over bare skin — the hoop is firm steel as you’re learning. Arrive a few minutes early, meet your coach, and we’ll take it from there. You’ll train over safety mats at a pace that’s challenging but never overwhelming. All you have to bring is a willingness to try.

Practice on Your Own – Open Gym

Ready to log extra time on the hoop? Our Open Gym sessions give you space to practice what you’ve learned on your own schedule, in the same safe, dedicated environment, perfect for building strength and drilling skills between classes.

Super helpful and great teachers. Absolute beginners are welcome. I can’t wait to come back and fly trapeze again and again!”
